Submitted by mccaffer on Wed, 03/11/2009 - 03:44.

Cuaxiloa Matte Polychrome is identified by a dull white/light gray slip.  Painted decoration is in brown and/or orange, and is usually in the form of complex geometric motifs in a panel around the rim.  Occasionally the interior base will feature and elaborate codex-style motif.  The only subtype that occues in quantity has  a polished rather than matte surface.  Cuaxiloa Matte is diagnostic of the Late Tlachihualtepetl period (1050-1200 CE).
